Movie Reviews

Land of the lost

Watched this movie few weeks ago! Forgot to rate it! Watched with Shaun I think. The movie was damn funny... But the movie seems like some 80s movie plot... But nonetheless, its still funny enough for me to find $8 worth it for the movie =) Anyway, the story doesnt link well... The main purpose is to make you laugh!

Rating: 7/10

Transformers
Watched this movie with Weida on Thursday =) Movie was quite long. Nice graphics though. Quite interesting. Movie is more like a thriller, fast moving with some jokes in it. But kinda confused with wich robot is good, which is bad. But its a real big production... Shows a lot of places in Egypt.

Rating: 7.5/10

Drag Me To Hell
Watched with Weida on Thursday night.... Movie marathon sia.... He said his sister say its nice .... Anyway, havent watched horror movies for a long while... cos most are quite bad with lousy endings... this one is different.... this is nice.... the sound effects were nice.... makes u scare.... and oso instill a fear inside you.... really enjoyed it.... u oso dunno wad to expect next in the story..... they have lots of element of surprise inside. Definitely worth the value.

Ever since the Japanese "I like mummy... I like mummy" ringtone chain sms movie, this is the 2nd horror movie I enjoy most. =)

Rating: 8/10

Enjoying my holidays...

Went out alone on last Thursday... joyride on buses as usual... den ended up at AMK watching ghosts of girlfriend's pasts... movie was quite interesting.... interesting plot...

its about a guy who doesnt believe in marriage... and almost ended up spoiling his bro's marriage.... and den he met his dead girlfriend in his room who brought him to realise how he has been wasting his life all the while after one failed relationship... quite funny! Give it 7 out of 10 popcorns.... =)

Went out alone on last Friday to eat my favourite kway chap... as usual.. had to wake up extremely early at 7am to get to Lorong 8 toa payoh for my kway chap... havent eaten for a long while.... feeling is juz as nice... i love their pig skin and small intestines..definitely going again... met my grandmother at the bus stop while going home.. so coincidence lor!

Went out with Tsianhwee on Saturday. Went swimming in the morning at CCK Swim Complex. Recently, addicted liao. Go there twice in a month... Which is like so UNNORMAL. LOL... I am MAD liao! LOL... Anyway, suffered from headache at night as usual. Worked at night for like 4.5 hours but I felt so giddy I took 30 mins to count my money when I go home when I usually take 15 minutes only! Zzz...

We went to Yew Tee Point after the swim. the new heartland mall at choa chu kang.
Went to Xin Wang Cafe for our lunch. Seriously we were conned. Look at the porridge that they cooked for me.

Ordered Mushroom Porridge... the picture on the menu looks delicious and nice... but when the real food comes.. I was thinking I could have cooked it myself.. even though I cant cook at all.... Taste was ok... but den.... $12 for this porridge.... conned! And their cold water is worth 30 cents... ordered milk tea instead....

Sunday was Father's Day? Or was it one week after father's day? Went to Junction 8 to eat Thai Express... with my family, cousins and grandparents....

Some of the food we ordered... I especially missed their nice chendol.... they have the freshest coconut milk... havent tried any chendol that has such fresh coconut milk ever.... =)... in fact, i was the one who suggested Thai Express.... cos of their chendol...

Service was slow... not because the staff were slow.... but they only have 3 waiters for the entire restaurant...and they were running around the whole restaurant....other food wise was okay... my beef kway teow... and all.... but i look forward to eating their chendol soon...

Monday went out alone to Woodlands. Had lunch @ Lerk Thai. Didnt expect the price to be so extravagant.

Spent $30 there alone @ $30.... Its scary! Just a bowl of noodles, 3 piece thai fish cake.... one latte and 2 pandan chicken....

The food was nice... but $30 seems a bit too high.... but nevertheless, i might actually visit them... say 1/2 year later? LOL....

Resigned from Cold Storage on Tuesday. Last work day is on this Saturday. Just before sch reopens! =)

Chubby people live longest: Japan study

AFP - Saturday, June 20

TOKYO (AFP) - - Health experts have long warned of the risk of obesity, but a new Japanese study warns that being very skinny is even more dangerous, and that slightly chubby people live longer.

People who are a little overweight at age 40 live six to seven years longer than very thin people, whose average life expectancy was shorter by some five years than that of obese people, the study found.

"We found skinny people run the highest risk," said Shinichi Kuriyama, an associate professor at Tohoku University's Graduate School of Medicine who worked on the long-term study of middle-aged and elderly people.

"We had expected thin people would show the shortest life expectancy but didn't expect the difference to be this large," he told AFP by telephone.

The study was conducted by a health ministry team led by Tohoku University professor Ichiro Tsuji and covered 50,000 people between the ages of 40 and 79 over 12 years in the northern Japanese prefecture of Miyagi.

"There had been an argument that thin people's lives are short because many of them are sick or smoke. But the difference was almost unchanged even when we eliminated these factors," Kuriyama said.

Main reasons for the shorter lifespans of skinny people were believed to include their heightened vulnerability to diseases such as pneumonia and the fragility of their blood vessels, he said.

But Kuriyama warned he was not recommending people eat as much as they want.

"It's better that thin people try to gain normal weight, but we doubt it's good for people of normal physique to put on more fat," he said.

The study divided people into four weight classes at age 40 according to their body mass index, or BMI, calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilograms by their squared height in metres.

The normal range is 18.5 to 25, with thinness defined as under 18.5. A BMI of 25 to 30 was classed as slightly overweight and an index above 30 as obese.

JB Outing!

Wow.. it has been a week since I last blogged. Apologies for not blogging... Recently i dun seem to have the mood to blog... i dunno why... haha...

I am actually beri free... but i just dun have the mood to blog...

Anyway, went to Johor Bahru on Saturday! Met Zhenhui and Tsianhwee at Kranji MRT! Took 170 into Malaysia... hmm.... havent been to Malaysia for around 5 years liao... I am finally going back again..haha.. and its my 1st outing with friends alone...

SIN = RM 240 @ Mong Lee Minimart, Bangkit

Rate was quite good.... but Tsianhwee says the Lot 1 Money Changer was RM 240.60.

We met at 1115am and reached johor at 115pm.. 2 hours wait... zzz.... 45 minutes wait for 160/170/170X at woodlands checkpoint.. its a chore... seriously.... the bus frequency was slow.... DAMN RITE SLOW... and the queue is horrible.... and queue cutting is like nobody's business.... there's no proper line to draw the queue for the buses... and nobody knows they are waiting for wich bus...

The new 2 lane customs checkpoint instead of the 14 lane old customs checkpoint is an extremely service improvement in malaysia.... i cant imagine who could have tot 2 lane is better than 14 lanes... -_-".... horrible jam.... zzz... the new johor checkpoint was nicely done up... but i wonder why they had to have such topsy curvy roads to reach the checkpoint.. and 2 lanes somemore... jammed there for 45 minutes...

Seriously... like my usual style.. no planning go le.... i didnt bring any map or anything.. haha... took 170X and ended up at Kotaraya II Bus Terminal. YES... beri funny... ulu ulu place.... den we walked towards City Square... the bus actually stops at City Square before tat.. but i didnt want to alight... lol... serves me rite.... actually the road to city square freaked me out... its so ulu.... ppl walk pass u ..u tink they gg to rob u..... zzz....

Anyway, we had roasted char siew... herbal chicken and hotplate beancurd at a coffee house.. urmz.... we ordered too much..... -_-".... felt so full.... i was the 1st to surrender.... followed by tsianhwee... i didnt really like the malaysian style... beri salty... and dark noodles.... but zen likes it... haha.... surprisingly he helped us clear the food... when he usually is the 1st to surrender in singapore..haha.... RM 65 for 3 persons..... isnt cheap....

We went to city square.. walked for a while.... den decided to catch a movie... and u know what... there's CATHAY CINEPLEX in JB. Haha...and Citibank Clear Card Members get to enjoy movies at RM8 on Weekends... 2 tickets per card member! We bought 2 Citibank movie tickets and 1 normal tickets at RM10... RM26.... supposed to pay for 2 RM2 Citibank Popcorn combo... but they forgot to collect from us anyway.... haha...

Summary
Movie Tickets - RM26 Citibank
2 Popcorn combos... - FREE (4get to charge me)
Add-on Drink - RM2.90 Cash
Total: RM28.90
3 movie tickets.... 3 small drinks.... and 2 mini popcorn....
Citibank's credit card exchange rate was RM2.355
SIN $12.24 ONLY

In singapore, would have cost me....
Movie Tickets - $18 UOB
2 mini popcorn combos... $7
Add-on drink = $2.80
Total: SIN $27.80

Watched Blood.. find the movie quite weird.. not my cup of tea... ending sucks.... i dun really understand the movie... just killing and blood scenes all over.... sucking blood.... killing vampires when the vampire killer is a vampire herself... Zzz....

Anyway, walked around... Things arent cheap these days.... except for the movie tickets...haha... we ended up buying Milo Drink home only! LOL... and Eclipse.. but anyway, realised their restaurants offer the same prices as those in singapore.... looks like u must really buy expensive stuff.... den its cheap... if not.... it can cost u more in malaysia....

Oh ya... had Marrybrown Chicken after tat at City Square for dinner b4 heading back... haha.... they have extremely slow service.. cos its slow food... not fast food... they cook for u once u make order.... i liked the crispy just fried chicken .... LOL... taste freaking nice! although portion was kinda small... but anyway we were quite full... so just nice! zen and tsian didnt really eat... haha.... only me! LOL....

Anyway, apologies... no camera shots for the malaysia trip... i was scared to get robbed in City Square... its the most dangerous place in malaysia.... haha.... bring camera... risk of getting robbed quite high.... lol....

Anyway, enjoyed the day out in malaysia.. with tsian and zen... hope they enjoyed their time there too..... anyway, its more of an adventure... though we only went shopping... and watching movie.... OMG! LOL.... maybe next time we can travel further to explore some other places? Hehe =)

Work sucks.... cos the schedule they give me is really shit.... too little hours... like this week... my roster is only 15 hours... Zzz... I am quitting soon.. but dunno when.... latest by 11 July... finish the time card for the 2nd month.... or earliest 28 June....

But seriously these few days have been quite slack... There are NO CUSTOMERS... LOL... i anticipate them to cut my hours more soon.... Yesterday one staff went on compassionate leave.... and they didnt put any replacement... and yet... there's no queue.... in fact they can ask me go touch candies... in the name of faceout... haha...

anyway... this job seems to be the most risky of H1N1 these few days... cos customers are mainly 60% ang moh, 30% chinese, 10% others...

Anyway, haha... u find find this video absurb... y would anyone behave this way when they go out dining and shopping... but some singaporeans really behave this way when they go shopping.. especially the rich taitais... -_-" ...

FUNNY CUSTOMERS
(1) Wear H1N1 mask.... Reason is not to avoid risk of infection. But... to ask for an absurb refund..... she is too embarrassed to let us see her face... the refund item was an ice-cream that she bought 6 months ago without a receipt and she claim the ice cream's spoilt... she buys a lot... and make refunds every week. rich tai tai....

(2) A rich tai-tai who walks in to ask for a $200 refund.... without a receipt.... maid throw away liao... she brought about 10 boxes of brands chicken of essence.... probably bought them on promotion and refund it when there's no promotion to earn $50. Or probably her husband only gave her a credit card... she bought it and refund it for cash so she can buy things that requires cash.

(3) A customer who left her chicken in the car for 5 hours... and reached home.... only to realise the roasted chicken is spoilt.... came back for a refund.... scolded the supermarket manager saying y the chicken is spoilt... damn it..she failed her home economics back in school..... and she said WHY IS THE CHICKEN NOT FRESH.... oso a rich tai-tai...

(4) A customer who wanted a receipt for the free gift.... so she can make an exchange tml if she dun like the free gift when she reached home for another free gift..... australian ang moh... rich ang moh tai tai....

(5) A customer who was told to come back tml... cos the restock is tml.... she came at 855am... waiting outside the supermarket...cos the stock is coming today!... dumb.... do u expect things to appear at 9am the next day... cant she wait 2 days... zzz.... rich tai tai AGAIN....

SICK RICH TAI-TAIs.. in action...

Thomas Beatie, better known as the Pregnant Man, has given birth to a healthy baby boy. Beatie, who was born a woman and then underwent a sex change operation, gained international attention last year when it was revealed he had become perhaps the first legally transgender male to get pregnant. A photo of the bearded Beatie with a pregnant belly became a sensation.

Just months after he gave birth to a daughter, Beatie told ABC's Barbara Walters he was pregnant again. ABC now reports that Beatie, 35, and wife Nancy, 46, welcomed their second child, a healthy boy, early Tuesday morning.

Sources tell ABC it was a "natural childbirth" and that Nancy will nurse their son, as she did with daughter Susan.
