13/11/09 - Lake Kawaguchiko
3rd day liao.. Woke up extremely early in the morning to get to Shinjiku for our bus ride to Kawaguchiko... The Keio Bus from Shinjiku metro station to Kawakuchigo costs 1,700 yen (one way) ($28) So return is $56. =) Had intended to visit Mount Fuji but we werent able to get to the mountain that day because of haze.
Reached Lake Kawaguchiko. We walked towards the centre of the lake... and it was like "WOW..." ITS SUPER NICE... Seeing all the red, yellow and green trees is extremely exciting... its the first time I see autumn leaves and trees! OMG! NICE LEH!
We saw a ropeway and we decided to head for the ropeway! LOL.... Tsian and I were kinda disappointed at the top... cos we were supposed to see Mount Fuji behind the heart shape of the picture I posed for but the haze was too thick for you to see anything... Bus services to the 5th station was also suspended until the day we were about to left... Zzz...
Anyways, we dine at a restaurant near the lake... tamago katsu rice i guess.. lol... anyway, its really nice... and i can say this is the best scenic view for the entire Japan trip! =)
We then visited a music museum as we bought a 2 day retro bus ticket around Lake Kawaguchiko area. Do note that the more expensive route is better.... tink is 1,800 yen ($30) vs the 1,000 yen ($16) we bought.... we wanted to buy both routes but ended up buying the cheaper route.... had language communication problems with the local bus driver....
but given he is a bus driver, his english is considered very good liao.. cos japan leh... most locals cant even speak a word of english. Anyways, the music museum nothing much.. just to take some pictures of the western view... more like a mini western world. they also showed us some rare musical instrument.. ok only.. tink admission is about 1,500 yen ($25)..
At night we dine in at one of their restaurants... was one of the cheaper meals we had in Japan. The meal cost about 600 yen ($9) with a cup of tea.... just an ordinary bowl of noodles... didnt know they have some prawns and passed it to tsianhwee. Taste below average.. Soup base a little bit unique.
We then headed back and left Kawaguchiko.... the place was a memorable one... and probably i would hope to visit them during spring perhaps next time? Anyway, its a pity we cant get to the 5th station.. perhaps we missed something big...
Anyway, we did managed to see Mount Fuji 2 hours before we left the area... we bought advanced bus tickets back to Shinjiku... so had to leave no matter wad... so even though the bus up the station resumed due to clearance of fog.. we were unable to get up to the 5th station....
The next day we took the retro bus again... since we had 2 day pass.... the 1st day we saw on the other side the nice view.. so we decided to go to the other side to see the "real thing".. wow.. its so cool... guess it was low tide... and we went in to the lake to see an uncle feeding ducks... lol... there were ppl fishing too.... den wad we saw was a patch of yellow leaves on the ground... wanting to take a nice picture... i sacrificed myself... lol... it was raining earlier on and the ground is wet... but who cares! LOL... i wan to post with the leaves.. lol... The tree was nice.. Red in colour... leaves of yellow all beneath the ground...
We then saw some "orange cherries" on our way towards our hotel... OMG.. I guess they can be eaten.. cos there was a cherry picker uncle there picking it... but i wonder how they eat it... it kinda stings... smells like rotten youghurt... LOL.. oh no my hands.. lol...
