Eat Eat Eat Week (28 - 30 Dec)

Met up with Zhenhui and Tsianhwee on Monday for dinner! Zhenhui told me there's this nice steamboat restaurant he tried the other time with yuanwei and tsianhwee... wanted to bring me there... Its at Seng Poh Road... Tiong Bahru there.. Le Le Pot...



I love the ambience there... not much people.... nice air-con.... unlike those in Bugis where you have to sweat it out to eat your steamboat dinner... Its opened by a part time TV stun actor... =)





We ended up paying about $23 a person with drinks... pretty worth it... lots of varieties of meat.. fresh and nicely cut... service was pretty good too.... Soup base was good... Nice time chit-chatting there... Will visit them soon... =)

Met up with Zhenhui on Tuesday again... we went for a morning swim at CCK Swim Cplx.. den chill at their jacuzzi.... went for pizza hut weekday deal after which at lot 1... $8 (after all taxes)... a mushroom soup.. a pizza and a soft drink.. =)

Met up with shaun for Jack's Place at Bukit Panjang Plaza today.... spent about $22 for the meal.. not really worth it... Shaun paid $10 for the meal... cos he ordered the chicken savers set meal .... mine was steak... wich wasnt too worth it.. tink its overpriced.. not tat nice too... not enuff meat.. lol...

(3 Dec) Tokyo Airport / San Francisco Downtown / City Hall / Cable Car / Fisherman's Wharf

Whole family left home at 3am in the morning on 3 December for our 6am flight to Tokyo as transit and then final destination San Francisco.
Had breakfast in the airport from the bread we bought yesterday. OMG! The airport is so quiet.

After 8 hours, we arrived at Tokyo Airport, wah... got to know my results through an sms from Zhenhui... =) Thanks for helping me check my results! =) Got a great surprise.. HD for Distribution Channels... My 1st HD...

We walked around Narita for an hour.... Akibahara... their duty free shop with all the bulky wrapping mochi.. lol... In Japan, eat with your eyes, not with your mouth. =)

Had a bowl of ramen and gyoza. Ramen was good... their soup base is better than those in Singapore.

We then departed Narita Airport for San Francisco... Oh no... the air flight was quite bad... the A330 we took was shaking violently for about 2 hours midway at Pacific Ocean.. We didnt know if we could make it to San Francisco alive.. LOL... There was thunderstorm and our airplane was flying thru the storm... in the middle of the ocean...


We finally arrived at San Francisco Airport.. Guess what, its only 10am at San Francisco, 3 December.. only 4 hours have passed after 18 hours of flight. =) Cos California State is 16 hours behind Singapore. 20 hours have passed but when you reach there, only 4 hours passed... So we actually went back to the past.. lol...

The first thing, of course, is to check in to our hotel... as we have a family of 5, we have to have 2 rooms daily.... and guess what, the double bed is meant for 1 person to sleep.. how cool rite? Anyway, throughout the trip, we had a double bed every night, except for my parents, who are sharing the bed... LOL..



Visited City Hall at San Francisco Downtown Core.... den we headed for their shopping streets.... took a cable car... I mean this cable car is darn famous rite? Europeans specially went San Francisco just to try this cable car! LOL...



Its US$5 a trip, irregardless where u alight. We arrived at the final stop at Fisherman's Wharf... Had a stroll around... we are coming here again tml.. haha.. today free n easy... tml guided tour...

Took a tram back... the long long one is their tram... a local means of transport... its cheaper.. i think its US$3 for a 2 hour unlimited hop-on pass...




Shopped around San Francisco... and then we had dinner.. its kinda expensive... we tot... US$13... for a western meal... but we end up realising 2 person can share a set... it comes with one bowl of salad... and one full plate of meat...

(4 Dec) San Francisco Chinatown / Pier 39 / Golden Gate Bridge /

Had breakfast at Chinatown San Francisco.. pretty amazed that USA got so many Chinese... lol... San Francisco is pretty much a Chinese City.. have to find ang moh... not many ang moh around... while we were walking.. all we could see was Chinese, followed by Blacks, then Ang Moh....

A lot of signboards were in Chinese Characters too... As the chinese name suggest, "Old Gold Hill"... most chinese migrated from China in the early years in search for Gold..





We visited San Francisco's most crooked street. Quite nice... the road is a flower boulevard.. and quite unique.. cars have to go through such a slope to get the bottom of the hill.. San Francisco is a slope city.... =)




We then headed for Golden Gate Bridge. eh.. its quite bad as there is heavy fog on the day we visited and it was early morning... cant see much of the bridge... wad a disappointment...













We then visited Pier 39, where we saw wild sealions.. pretty much amazed.. there are so many wild california sea lions around... anyway, from the signboard... we found out that all of the wild sea lions were migrants to the pier during an earthquake on another island, which forced the sea lions to move to pier 39....

Went on a boat ride to view San Francisco and also took pictures near Golden Gate Bridge... By then, the skies were clear and the view of Golden Gate Bridge was much better.. =)


Had clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf after tat.. I can say this is the best calm chowder i ever had... i didnt like those in Singapore because they have a fishy smell... this one doesnt.. its at a restaurant in Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco... tink it costs about US$6 ... quite big... should be enough for 2 person's lunch if you are a heavy eater.. the sourdough bread was kinda sour... not like those in Singapore.. but i like it! =)





Then we travelled down for outlet shopping, before heading back to bed. =) Oh ya... we had dinner at one of their chinatown... oh... and we dine at their supermarket... they have this "ang-moh style" chinese food... its like our economical rice/noodles.... but for them, you purchase a styrofoam box from the cashier for US$6 and stuff it full. As long as you can close the styrofoam box, its okay! Locals fill it up with all meats, no vegetables and rice... but we had some noodles lah...haha... fit for 1.5 person if you fill it up full...



Oh ya.. we came across the chinese supermarket selling durians.. omg... its the worst quality durian i ever seen in my life! its thai durian and already rotten.. and they can be bought at US$30 per kg if i never remember wrongly.. omg...i respect these people.. they like durians until even if they are rotten, they are willing to eat... i didnt even know thai durians can spoil... these durians probably are pick up in thailand 3 - 6 months ago... already rotten and still selling... no wonder ang moh always say durians are smelly... but this was thai durian.. so it didnt stink... those i saw in China was less rotten but more smelly cos its Malaysian durians... lol...
